There are many NPTA committees to become involved in. The following is a list of committees that are open to members.

Each committee has different functions and some require more frequent meeting times than others. The following is a description of each committee and the name and email of committee chairs and contacts.
The committee’s function is to suggest and receive proposed amendments to the bylaws of the Chapter. They take suggestions and recommend action to the Board of Directors. They secure opinions from APTA staff, parliamentarian, and APTA legal counsel regarding our chapter’s bylaw changes. They submit proposed amendment changes to the voting body for action at the Annual meeting.

The finance committee shall advise the Board of Directors regarding the matters of the Chapter’s financial needs. The finance committee assists the treasurer as needed to prepare and defend the annual budget to the BOD. The finance committee will also prepare a year-end audit so that the treasurer can submit the financial statements and tax returns to the APTA by May 31st. The finance committee is composed of the chapter treasurer as chairperson and is also comprised of the Immediate past chapter treasurer, Northern and Southern district secretaries and any other additional NPTA members that would like to participate.

The government affairs committee is one of the most active committees in terms of its responsibilities and its frequency of meetings. Its chief function is to keep the membership informed as to legislation that affects the NPTA members on a national and a state level. During the legislative session, the committee is very active in monitoring ongoing bills, preparing language, testimony, and position statements for the chapter.
Meetings are usually monthly and sometimes more frequent during the legislative session.

The members of this committee are elected by the members of the chapter. Three members are included in this committee. One member is elected from the Northern district, one from the Southern district and if possible, one is elected from the rural district. This committee presents a slate of candidates to the chapter during each annual meeting. They are responsible to provide biographical data to the members of the chapter for each candidate for elected offices including: president elect, secretary and treasurer.

The placement committee is comprised generally of the Northern District Chairperson and the Southern district chairperson. They answer all correspondence regarding job placement and /or opportunities. They also post the opportunities on the website and report about them at the district meetings.

The purpose of this committee is to plan Chapter Continuing Education
Programs. The committee develops the continuing ed plan and implements all
aspects of planning, organization, publicity and evaluation of these
programs. The programs include monthly district meetings and two annual
conferences (spring and fall). The Executive Director of the Chapter assists
this committee with these tasks.

This committee helps to educate the public regarding the profession of physical therapy. The committee promotes Physical Therapy on an ongoing basis and also promotes Physical Therapy month each October. This committee is essential to the promotion of our profession. This committee creates as many activities in as many mediums as possible to make the public aware of how physical therapy impacts them. Activities are ongoing throughout the entire year.

The political action committee was formed to empower NPTA therapists to be more involved in determination state laws and policies. The creation of the NPTA PAC allows the physical therapy profession to channel its financial grassroots support to help elect candidates to the Nevada legislature who are responsive to the physical therapy profession’s goals and viewpoints. The committee consists of the NPTAs past president who acts as the chairperson. The chairperson appoints a treasurer to help with management of PAC funds. Involvement with PAC fundraising is always a need in this association.

The function of the reimbursement committee is to keep the membership informed of the latest reimbursement trends, statewide and also across the country. This committee has also held informational meetings for members regarding edits, Medicare trends etc. They have also educated payors regarding the physical therapy profession.

The function of the membership committee is to promote retention and an increase in our chapters membership. They provide our chapter with information and stats regarding our membership and also help to come up with new and innovative ideas for membership drives. They provide new members with information regarding the chapter.
